Masterline Permethrin Plus-CWe had been waiting for some kind of break through in the world of pesticides that would mean less work and less money. Ideally, we have been hoping for a spray that would be totally non-toxic to the environment and maybe not even be a pesticide as we know them. We have high hopes for the organic solutions such as demonstrated by Beetle Busters, but have been unwilling, ourselves, to take the leap, fearing that the beetles will still attack our healthy trees. My neighbor told me about a study being done by New Mexico State University in Las Cruces. I called the gentleman that he had been talking to and found our more information. New Mexico State has been studying this new permethrin with cellulose added to it. So far, the only thing I have heard is that they have approved it from an environmental standpoint, meaning that it is no more harmful than the other permethrins currently on the market. A study done in Arizona by the Forest Service concluded, after 7 months, that there was an adequate amount of permethrin left to still be effective. In our climate, one application should cover us for each year. I have received a Power Point presentation from Mr. Leo Renello from Arizona Chemical Group, Inc., the formulator for this new product. Mr. Renello is also a board certified entomologist. I have converted this Power Point presentation into Adobe Acrobat Format for posting to this site. The file size is very large and, on a dial-up modem, takes a while to load, so please be patient. This presentation is intended for the professional pesticide applicator so there will be words and terms that you probably don't know as they are acronyms for the industry. PPM = parts per million and active means the active ingredient. All in all, though, you should be able to get an adequate overview. I am talking to Newman's Nursery to try to get them to stock this product. In the meantime, it can be ordered through The Pied Piper in Albuquerque. Ask to speak to Tim. At present, he doesn't stock it, but will arrange to have it at his store located at 522 San Mateo NE, between 5 and 6 blocks north of Central. It comes in 80 oz. and 1.25 gallon bottles. He can be reached at 505-265-6928. I have already begun spraying with this product! |
